Day 20 of 30 in 30 Daily Painting Challenge

This one shows the progression of a pour painting that was a little too thin and sitting on an uneven surface as well as sitting outside on a humid day....  Extremly disappointed in losing such an awesome pour but it was a great learning experience...

AFTER POUR/SPREAD

1 HOUR LATER

NEXT MORNING

Something had goofed and so I added blue to bottom but I missed a photograph after I added blue.  It was the first time I'd still been able to move paint the next morning, it was still so wet.
5 DAYS LATER, DRY
EVOLVE

  1. I love the first one, but I have to say... I really like the finished piece too. Different feel all together. :)

  2. This has happened to me on more than one occasion. It's just a consequence of adjusting your formula and maybe not being completely level as the painting dries. It used to happen to me in a different way when I would paint on black canvas. The painting looked killer when it was poured but dried really dark. I realized it was the milky white of the binder opaquing the transparent colors. Once the binder turned clear I had transparent over black which of course meant the color was wiped out. BUT the moral to the story is that some friend's absolutely loved the DARK version. And I happily gave the very dark ones that I didn't like to people who did like them.

So your final painting is not pleasing to you because you compare it to what it was. But someone else may think "WOW! that is so cool." Any hoo... I enjoy your pours. I did a bunch of them for the last 30-30. This year I am doing watercolors and oils.

    2. I am trudging through. Only 5 to go but they are always the hardest ones. As Magnum PI used to say... Don't look at the dogs just keep picking the lock! Last night I dreamed about how to do this watercolor of the Witch Head Nebula. I might try to tackle that... not easy for me to create wispy clouds of colored nebula gas with a very specific form in transparent watercolor on a black background. But then again... it's not easy to do a great pour either! Nothing is simple these days. Keep up the good work Kyla of the clan Corbett.

    3. Haha, love it! watercolor is definitely challenging for sure- I love watching how everyone's paintings transform over the challenge. Never ceases to amaze me. Now imagine how good we'd get if we just stuck with it every single day instead of a couple times a year. LOL I'll get there someday- Good luck with the final five.
